Our Team

Jayson Halladay: CEO, Co-Founder
Jayson holds a professional degree in Architecture. His first business was in chickens and eggs. (You'll have to ask him). He loves design and business, and has combined the two in various previous ventures, including furniture design, architecture, and real estate development. Always interested in new challenges, Jayson started Piggymojo as a response to difficulties he and his friends had sticking to a budget and saving in general. He believes that there can be a more fun, effective, and rewarding way to save money than budgeting.

Leah Solomon: Head of Product, Co-Founder
Leah has been both frugal and entrepreneurial her entire life. Her first business was digging up clay from her primary school’s long-jump pit and selling it to her classmates for their craft projects. She received a graduate degree in English Literature, and then earned a Masters degree in Product Design with the intention of designing cool “stuff.” After running a design venture for 10 years, Leah started Piggymojo when she realized that it would be more useful and fulfilling to design a way to help people not buy stuff, than to design the stuff itself.

Our Philosophy

Saving money can be hard. Conventional wisdom says to use a budget. But if you tried budgeting and it didn’t work, you're not alone. Pew research shows that people who keep budgets are just as likely to overspend as people who don't.

Piggymojo proposes an entirely different way to save money.

Piggymojo helps you focus on the little day-to-day expenditures you make while you are out and about. A lot of those purchases don't really increase the quality of our lives and are quickly forgotten. We make these kinds of purchases often, and all those little amounts add up fast.

Cutting back can be a challenge, but there are lots of ways to make it easier. Having a clearly defined goal, community support, getting feedback and encouragement, and tracking your progress all help. And having a partner REALLY helps. It is also satisfying to be able to take action in the moment - that's why being able to do a "savings transaction" with your cell phone instead of a purchase transaction works so well. But the best part is getting the hug or high-five from your savings partner when you see them next.

Saving is easier to do if you know that you have something fun (like your honeymoon) or empowering (like getting out of credit card debt) to look forward to in the near future. The anticipation of your success is stronger than your momentary craving.

You don't need to change your whole life or feel deprived. If you've had one of those days and need that latte – then get it. Piggymojo is about making little changes – cutting back on just a few things every week. Do you really need that 3rd beer? Probably not. It's about making conscious choices about everything you buy. Ask yourself: is this (cookie, pair of novelty socks, magazine) really going to make me happy or will I feel better saving that few dollars and putting it towards my goal instead? Piggymojo gives you the framework and support you need to develop a savings habit that will help you achieve your goals. Use the mojo!
